CONTENT CREATOR ANKUR WARIKOO AND HIS WIFE RUCHI SHARE 5 MONEY RULES THEY LIVE BY AFTER HAVING 2 KIDS

Budgeting plays a crucial role in family life. It requires efficient planning and prioritising, based on individual values and needs. For this, it’s important to pay no heed to the latest trends. Indian entrepreneur and content creator Ankur Warikoo and his wife Ruchi revealed how they spend their money on a monthly basis at the age of 45 with two kids. Their five rules may come handy if you are struggling to categorise your expenses.

Don’t give in to fads, build wealth for freedom

Ankur and Ruchi explained that unnecessary spending on brands is a waste of time and money. You should instead build wealth rather than pay attention to your appearances to please others.

“We don’t spend money to look rich. We spend to become wealthy and gain freedom. So, there’s no car. It’s rented. We own the house we live in, no other real estate. No spending on brands. No spending to just show off to people,” he said.

No compromise on eating healthy

One thing both Ankur and Ruchi were clear about is spending generously on high-quality food. This was a non-negotiable for them as he explained, “We know that what goes into our body is ultimately the biggest wealth we have, and unfortunately, healthy food is not cheap.”

Spend on experiences for growth, not material things

Most people end up spending money on materialistic things, but the joy lasts for a tiny bit. However, experiences, such as travelling to new places, help you grow. “We spend on experiences more than things. Things give you happiness once, and they have no end. You remember experiences, and they make you a better person. You grow as a person. We travelled 116 days last year,” they shared.

Invest before spending

For Ankur and Ruchi, the priority is to invest for a safer future. So they spend only after setting aside a chunk for investment. “We invest before spending. As soon as our salary comes, the largest amount is invested. The remaining amount is used for expenses. We are recording this one on the 30th. Rs 9000 and Rs 600 is left in our bank accounts. Everything else is invested,” he revealed.

No cap on books and learning

When it comes to spending on their mind, both have no limit for books and learning. “No amount of money spent is enough. Ruchi is learning pottery, watercolour painting, and tennis. Our kids also go to many classes."
