'I WOULD RATHER...': WOMAN QUIT HER RS 1 LAKH A MONTH JOB AT 23, SAYS SHE WAS LIVING HER 'WORST PHASE'

Success often looks perfect from the outside. A high-paying job, financial stability, and a career that ticks every box. For 24-year-old Rithika, that picture was real. At just 23, she was earning over a lakh a month and living what many would call a dream life. But behind that polished image was a reality that told a very different story.

For nearly two years, Rithika found herself stuck in what she described as her “worst-case scenario.” Despite professional success, her health began to decline. She was constantly anxious and frequently unwell. In just three months, she lost 9 kilos. The exhaustion never seemed to fade. Nights became restless as sleep slipped away, and days were marked by cancellations, both of plans and parts of herself.

What hurt the most was not the physical toll, but the emotional loss. Rithika stopped creating -- the one thing that had always defined her identity. Over time, she barely recognised the person she had become. The life that once seemed ideal no longer felt like her own. I was constantly sick and anxious.

“I dropped 9 kilos in 3 months and felt exhausted all the time. I couldn’t sleep, I cancelled plans, and the worst part was that I stopped creating — the one thing that made me who I am. I could barely recognise myself,” says Rithika.

That realisation led to a difficult but decisive choice. She quit her job.

Taking to Instagram, she shares, now, at 24, she is starting over. There is no fixed plan, no guaranteed path, and no certainty about what lies ahead. For her, it made more sense to take the risk now than to carry regret into her 30s.

“So here I am, starting all over again with absolutely no idea what comes next. I have just turned 24. I have savings, and I would rather shake up my life now than regret it in my 30s,” she concludes.

Rithika’s story has struck a chord with many.

One user said, "Did exactly the same 2 years ago. I was 24 back then and it was the best decision of my life."

Another person commented, "I’m incredibly proud of you for taking this bold step. It takes real courage to walk away from something that doesn’t make you happy and choose a path that aligns with who you truly are. Starting over is not a setback — it’s a powerful decision to design the life you want."

A third user wrote, "Remember, the most beautiful journeys often begin with uncertainty. Trust yourself, trust your talent, and trust the process. You have everything it takes to succeed, and more importantly, to find joy in what you do. Whatever you choose to pursue, I’ll always be right behind you, cheering for you at every step. This is your time — embrace it with confidence and a smile. You’ve got this, and I believe in you completely."
